Los geht es am Mittwoch, den 14. September 2011, 17:00 Uhr auf dem Telegrafenberg, Wissenschaftspark Albert Einstein, Haus A31, Große Kuppel. Da nur ein sehr limitiertes Platzangebot für Gäste besteht, müssen sich interessierte PoGS-Doktoranden direkt über die Adresse science-and-pretzels@pik-potsdam.de unter Angabe des Namens und der Wissenschaftsdisziplin bis zum 9.9. anmelden (first come, first served). Erfolgreiche Bewerber erhalten eine Bestätigungs-Email. Wir werden zusätzlich eine Warteliste einrichten. Über die Möglichkeit der Teilnahme an weiteren Science & Pretzels Vorträgen wird rechtzeitig informiert.

Bill Hare is a Physicist and Environmental Scientist with over twenty years experience in the science, impacts and policy responses to climate change and stratospheric ozone depletion. At present he is directing the PREVENT Project run by PIK and Climate Analytics, which started at the end of 2008 and which is providing scientific, policy, analytical and strategic support and advice for delegations from the small island states (SIDS) and the least developed countries (LDCs) in the international climate negotiations. He is a Visiting Scientist in the Earth System department at the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research and is a Director of Climate Analytics. Mr. Hare was a Lead Author for the IPCC’s Climate Change 2007: Mitigation of Climate Change component of its Fourth Assessment Report (AR4) and he was the focal point for the section on Article 2 of the UNFCCC in the Synthesis Report of the AR4. Prior to this he contributed to most of the IPCC assessment processes both as an expert reviewer and as a member of the writing team of the IPCC Special Report on Emission Scenarios. In 2008 Mr Hare was awarded honoris causa the degree of Doctor of Science from Murdoch University, Western Australia for his contribution to the climate change issue.
