International Teaching Professionals:
Closing & Kick-Off Event 2016

International Teaching Professionals 2016

At Thursday, November 17th, 2016 the combined Kick-off & Closing Event of the International Teaching Professionals program, the Closing Event of the Science meets Market (EPE) program and the PoGS Science Club took place at the Wissenschaftsetage.

All pictures were made by Thomas Roese and Paul Richter and are released for private use only.

At the beginning, the director of the PoGS, Dr. Heike Küchmeister, and the dean of the PoGS, Prof. Dr. Florian Jeltsch, welcomed the mixed audience and underlined the importance of such meetings for early-stage researchers. It is an excellent opportunity to exchange about the diverse experiences, backgrounds, career goals, projects and to learn something about two (completely different?) spheres of the academic training offers: teaching and entrepreneurship.

This overlapping event offered the framework to celebrate the successful completion of both of the programs and welcomed the new ITP participants. For the general audience of the event, who might not know the ITP program, we, firstly, had a look on the key learning outcomes documented by the ITP participants. Two highlights of the evening were the talk of Prof. Dr. Linda Juang (Professor of Inclusive Education - Diversity in Education and Development, UP) on who the students are and the exciting story told by a young entrepreneur. Dr. Ina Henkel (Nutritional Science Department, UP) presented her very innovative (and tasty!) startup idea and contributed with her extraordinary samples to the delicious buffet at the end of the event. Before the buffet, the traditional elevator pitch event was performed. The Science meets Market (EPE) participants pitched their interesting business ideas and the audience voted for the best elevator pitch. Finally, the evening merged into the PoGS Science Club and other PoGS members joined the event. Near the fireplace everyone enjoyed really nice finger food and drinks in a casual atmosphere and had some nice chats about teaching and entrepreneurship with the chance for some new and inspiring contacts and networking.
