Geo-engineering aka climate engineering – the technological manipulation of our planet’s climate system and oceans – could play a role in near-future strategies to reduce climate warming. Science has begun to evaluate the potential risks and consequences to earth, atmosphere and human health.
“Geo-engineering – Blessing or curse?“
Will take place on July 11, 2012 at 20 hours at the Berlin Office of the Robert Bosch Stiftung, Französische Straße 32, 10117 Berlin, with:
- Professor Hans Joachim Schellnhuber CBE, Climate researcher and director of the Potsdam-Institute for Climate Research (PIK)
- Professor Mark Lawrence, Atmospheric scientist and scientific director of the Institute for Advanced Sustainability Studies (IASS)
- Professor Ken Caldeira, Atmospheric scientist, Stanford
- Professor Konrad Ott, Philosopher und ethicist, Greifswald University.
Markus Becker, head of the science desk at Spiegel Online, will moderate. The discussion will take place in English.
